HAND OFF THE BATON - WE MEAN CHIP!
Every Marathon Relay team receives one ankle strap that contains the timing chip. Each participant wears the ankle strap during his leg of the race and then passes it to the next person at the relay station. The ankle strap needs to be worn in order to receive a finish time.
Here are the locations for the 4-person Marathon Relay Stations:
Relay Station 1: South side of Market Street at 14th Street (for the exchange between runner #1 and runner #2)
Relay Station 2: Forest Park, just past the History Museum on Lagoon Dr. (for the exchange between runner #2 and runner #3)
Relay Station 3: Able Key & Service Co. on DeBalivere, just south of Delmar (for the exchange between runner #3 and runner #4)
Relay Station 4: South side of Market Street at 14th Street (runners #1, #2, #3 gather to meet runner #4 and cross the finish line together - smile for the photographer!)
Metro, the St. Louis area transit authority, is providing complimentary ridership on MetroLink for Marathon Relay Team Members. This service will allow the third and fourth runners of each relay team to ride westbound trains from the Civic Center station in downtown St. Louis to the Forest Park/DeBalivere station. The second and third runners for each team will be able to utilize the same service to ride the eastbound trains from the Forest Park station downtown to the Civic Center Station. Your YELLOW Marathon Relay race bib number will serve as your MetroLink ticket.
AVOID TRAFFIC - RIDE METROLINK!
To avoid the hassles of traffic and congestion, consider utilizing MetroLink to get to the Saturday, April 14th site in Forest Park and downtown St. Louis for the April 15th Spirit of Saint Louis Marathon. On Saturday, ride to the Forest Park/DeBalivere station and take a short walk past the Missouri History Museum to the start/finish areas for our events. On Sunday, ride downtown to the Civic Center station, which is convenient to both the Marathon start and finish areas.
Remember to Stay Healthy, Stay Hydrated and Stay Calm! We'll take care of the rest.
Good luck! Have fun! We'll see you at the Finish Line!
