Date: April 15, 2012 Time: 7:00 AM Location: Downtown St. Louis
The GO! St. Louis Half Marathon presented by PNC Bank was introduced in 2003 and has become the most popular race during the two-day weekend. More than 13,500 individuals registered in 2011, making it one of the largest half marathon fields in the United States. The half marathon traditionally reaches capacity in advance of the race, so participants are encouraged to secure their spot early. The 2012 race cap has been set at 15,000 entrants.
The half marathon distance appeals to runners and walkers, who are looking for a challenging distance, without committing to the training for a full 26.2-mile marathon. Participants in the half marathon start at the same time as marathon and marathon relay participants. Half marathoners share the same course until the 9-mile mark, where they turn and head back towards downtown.
Time Limit Rule:
Any half marathoner participant who falls behind the pace (13:44 minutes per mile) beginning 25 minutes after the official race start) after turning onto Olive Blvd (approximately 6 miles), prior to the half marathon turnaround point will be required to move to the sidewalk and obey all traffic signals.
